Who are we?
We are a team of 6
British University whitewater kayakers who share a passion for adventure and
exploration.
What are we doing?
We are undertaking
a whitewater kayaking expedition to remote parts of the Peruvian Andes this
summer to paddle the best whitewater we can find. Along the journey we plan to
paddle the deepest and second deepest Canyons in the world (Cotahuasi and Colca
canyons) and explore undocumented rivers in the Cuzco region of Peru.
Why Peru?
A country steeped
in ancient history and culture, Peru is already hot on the tourist trail and
has the potential to become a world class whitewater kayaking destination. From
the few well documented British kayaking expeditions already conducted we know
the quality of the whitewater is great and that the potential for exploration
is huge. We will take advantage of the well developed tourist infrastructure in
order to aid with logistics and work with local whitewater rafting companies in
order to seek unexplored whitewater, whilst soaking up the culture and stunning
scenery of one of the most interesting countries in the world.
Our aims and objectives?
- To paddle remote whitewater rivers in the Peruvian Andes by kayak
- To work with local whitewater rafting companies to explore potential first descents
- To report our findings to the UK (and worldwide) paddling community
- To collect scientific samples of river Diatoms on behalf of Adventure and Science
We hope you enjoy
following our blog of the expedition and can benefit from the information and
rivers we find.
